There may be restrictions on any airport owned land/roads, but I suspect from the railway station forecourt would be no issue.

I understand that cab firms provide cars 24\\7, have you tried one?

Flying into there tomorrow, bought gatwick express. Total rip off yes but still, is über cheaper than rail?? (depending on where going of course)

Moose I was gonna go off at you and call you an unhelpful cunt, but perhaps that's just how you get your kicks, I understand, of course I know what a fucking minicab is, but will a cab come all the way from dagenham to gatwick on the off chance it's not a wind up, hence why I downloaded this stupid fucking uber app, fwiw I usually drive and park at airports

Re: getting home from Gatwick

What's this got to do with...well you know

Re: getting home from Gatwick
Yeah but at Gatwick you wouldn't call a cab from Dagenham, would you? you would call a local one

Re: getting home from Gatwick
Gatwick express no good as flight gets in at 1.35 time you get out at least 2, the train leaves at 1.35 next ones at 4.35 fucked if I'm hanging about for 3 hours

RichyP 5:31 Fri Sep 9
Re: getting home from Gatwick
you could also pre-pay and that way they would know it's not a wind up

Re: getting home from Gatwick
I regularly get an Uber to Gatwick but never got one back home from there.

There's now a pre-book feature which may help, as the only drivers around Gatwick are likely to be the ones who have just dropped off customers there.

Re: getting home from Gatwick
have you tried gatwick flyer? used them a few weeks ago -very good and much cheaper than getting a cab.

Re: getting home from Gatwick
all local cab companies (Dagenham or wherever) will do a pick up from Gatwick.

it will be a fixed fee too.

No, I'm just being a wanker. On a serious note why don't you think a taxi at Gatwick airport will not take you to Dagenham at 2am?

Dagenham cab firms should be able to give you a price to come and collect you, they'll ask for your flight no so the cabbie can keep an eye on it for delays.

JONESY 5:46 Fri Sep 9
Re: getting home from Gatwick
the cabs at the airport will be much more expensive than if you book your local firm to collect you.

Moose i was just hoping to join the uber revolution a lot of people swear by it I'll probably end up phoning the company that took me but did that before and waited for over an hour freezing my tits off as they obviously hadn't sent it until I phoned to check where it was

Re: getting home from Gatwick
If you can't get a relative to pick you up,ask one to pre book a Dagenham cab firm giving your flight details. The firm I use in Goodmayes require £20 deposit,I would think this would be the normal practice.

Re: getting home from Gatwick
I just checked and scheduled Uber rides are only currently available in London zones 1-3.

You could get out of Gatwick and use the app in the hope that there is a driver nearby, but if you're due to land at 2am then it's probably best to pre-book with a private hire firm.

Re: getting home from Gatwick
Mike. Thameslink run all night from Gatwick. That time may only be a couple an hour but that will get you into Blackfriars, Farringdon or St Pancras and then you can get an uber cab
